In Your Face Feeders

We know why you’re here, and we’re happy that you are. You just brought home a new critter, but what size rat do you need compared to the size of your new friend? We’ve got you covered.

We’ve put together an explanation to help you decide what size feeder you should be offering your snake. We practice what we preach.

When feeding time comes around, you should take notice of how big around your friend is. For basic reference, a ball python or reticulated python can get down a rat that’s slightly larger than the widest part of your snake’s body. They can take down something larger than you would think, and after they eat they should have a slight, but visible bulge in their belly. If you have a juvenile ball python who is about as round as a quarter, it would be able to swallow a fuzzy rat comfortably, but can absolutely manage to get a weaned size rat down with a bulge. You want to be cautious, as you do not want to feed your snake something so large that they are stretched out to their limit.
